Town and Country Quilters’s Guild
Meeting Minutes
December 10, 2014
Present:  24 members
Our Christmas pot luck was enjoyed by everyone with lots of goodies, followed by a brief meeting led by Ruth B, in Linda’s absence.
November Meeting minutes to include a correction for a member’s name, Mary Jane MacLeod, not Palmer.
Library: new purchases:
·         Quilters’ Connection
·         Kaleidoscope Paper Piecing by Nancy Mahoney
·         2000 Colour Combinations by Garth Lewis
Cost in total $83.42 as well as $35 for membership to Mayflower Guild.
Financial Report: Elizabeth Bpresented her Report with current balance of $3952.66, and moved it be adopted; seconded by Marg T.
Program:
·         Piecemaker’s workshop in Centreville January 30-31; places available
·         Charity quilt workshop in the hall on January 31. Kate M will be leading a wonky log cabin for Quilts of Valour; will need 48 squares to complete
·         Kate will also be formulating a Master Resource List of services/ skills available locally to complement quilting needs; all suggestions welcomed.
·         Round Robin – there are 13 people interested in this project where a centre block of a prescribed measure will be circulated among the group, following the owner’s vision, and descriptions for each round from January to June. The first block, the centre, will be due for the January 14th meeting.
·         Coming events:  January – Community Quilts: your own choice or Quilt of Valour with Kate M.
February – Esther K, tool tote.
March- Kate M/ Embellishment (maximum 10 people; if more, Kate will do a second      W/S).
April- Ruth B/Foundation Paper Piecing.   
 May – Cathy B/ Bargello.
 June – TBA.
·         Guild Meeting Programs January – “Go to” resources.
February – Free Motion Quilting with Jackie T.
March – Resources in the Valley with Kate M.
April – Quilting Hacks – Jane M.
May – Trunk show?
June-  Spring banquet

New Business: Vanessa A raised discussion about having an alternate date should the meeting be cancelled due to a storm. The suggestion of utilizing one hour or less, of the workshop day at the end of the month when the hall is booked was favoured and will be utilized. The time frame will cover only essential business items, will not offer Show and Tell and will not interfere greatly with any planned instruction day.
Show and Tell:
·         Amber  L - panel quilt; pink and royal blue apron
·         Kate M– three quilted eagle feathers on black velvet
·         Kathy B– Paper piecing Christmas quilt with multicultural angels; from book in Library
·         Sharon M – Snake river log cabin quilt; two Christmas runners
·         Ann C – queen brown and orange batik quilt
·         Ruth B – six quilt as you go Christmas place mats
·         Ruth P , Leah M, Heather M, Geneve N and Jackie T all demonstrated the purses they made while participating in Corrine's workshop.
·         Leah M – two large hockey quilts, for each of her grandsons, personalized with their pictures and in full hockey gear as the centre feature.
·         Jackie T – quilted hanging from the Karen Henry W/S, with a heron rather than a crow; eight quilt as you go placemats in batiks and white
·          Helen A – origami stars in folded fabrics
·         Barb L – tea cozy and small table mat using the quilt as you go and slab quilt techniques
The next meeting will be held on January 14th at 7PM.
